First Day of 2nd Grade

Trey's 2nd grade class at his new schoolOur move to Cordele means a new school for Trey. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem upset or worried about it at all. In fact, on his first day he made a friend and invited him to his birthday party the following day. He came home and told us to call his friend’s parents.

“What’s his number?” I asked.

“I don’t know,” Trey replied.

“Well what are his parents names so I can look up their number?” I asked.

“I don’t know,” Trey shrugged.

“We can’t really find him by tomorrow morning then.”

“I have an idea! He said people call him Bubba. Just ask someone where Bubba lives!” he exclaimed.

“Sorry, Trey. I’m betting Cordele has a whole lot of Bubbas.”

Lewis Genter Botanical Gardens

While Trey was in Virginia with my parents they took him to Lewis Genter Botanical Gardens. Trey said that nothing about it was boring (implying perhaps that he assumed it would be boring beforehand?) but his favorite thing was the butterflies. I’m impressed that he ranks them over the splash pad!

1st Grade Awards

On May 20th, 2013, Heritage Elementary had their awards day and Trey was one of those to receive recognition. He got a Principal’s Honor Roll trophy and was recognized as the top Advanced Reader in his class. We’re so proud of our little genius!

Dora’s Birthday Party

Dora, little sister of Trey’s friend & classmate Suri, invited us over to their place for her birthday party. It was a fun time with a not-so-Vietnamese piñata and very-American cake.

Congrats Mommy!

Heidi's Residency GraduationAfter five long years of hard work, Dr. Heidi Haun has graduated from her general surgery program at MCCG. Both Trey and Daddy are proud of her and looking forward to the free time she will have now that the program is over.

Sealing Those Six Year Molars

At Trey’s most recent dental checkup we had his six-year molars sealed. Those back teeth need a little extra protection from tooth decay. Trey still hasn’t developed ideal tooth brushing habits (more due to the quality of his brushing than the frequency) so we don’t want to put his first permanent teeth at risk.

Sealants are a common practice and I remember having then done when I was a kid. Here is a link to the National Institute of Dental Research’s website with info on the procedure. Trey didn’t complain a bit and it only lasted about 15 minutes.
