Uncle Skenny Comes to Town

My brother Kenny and my cousin Brett Weber arrived today after a long 48 hour drive from San Diego. Tomorrow they head to the Davis’ with William and Trey for a weekend of camping in the Smokies. Here are some photos from our late afternoon visit to the lake together.

Working Mommy

Beginning residency and working full time (actually double-full time) has been somewhat difficult for me from the standpoint of being a mom. There is always that lurking fear, that I am sure many working mothers feel, that I am not going to be as good of a mom as I want to be.  Having an amazing husband like William who is able to stay home with Trey and take him out to explore really helps ease the transition. At the Beach with Gramps and Family

Since I won’t be back in Florida for a while, I wanted to take advantage of the beaches. My dad, Alexandra, William, Trey and I headed over to Madeira Beach. Trey had a great time playing and splashing around in the water. The rest of us enjoyed relaxing in the warm gulf waters. Afterwards, we went over to Osaka for sushi and to the Candy Kitchen for a banana split (that we all shared).

Splashing in Lake Wildwood

In the middle of our neighborhood is a large lake called Lake Wildwood. Before dinner, we walked down to the lake for a swim. The water was cool to warm with pockets of ridiculously hot water (I don’t think Alexandra cared for the hot-tub-like water). The bottom of the lake was pretty gooey and nasty, but we all had a great time splashing around. Trey enjoyed trying to swim, but needs a little fine tuning of his technique. His favorite thing was to sit and throw rocks.

Something Missing…

Trey without pacifier on the planeTrey loved his pacifier (remember the alligator incident?) Now that we weaned him from nursing, we wanted to break him of the pacifier habit sometime soon. I wouldn’t recommend our “oh, no! I didn’t pack any pacifiers for the plane ride to Colorado” method, but once we got over the initial whining and crying during the first leg of our trip to CO, we decided we couldn’t go back. He asked for it almost every day at nap and bed time, but only for the first week. He’s mostly forgotten it now. We looked all around the house when we got home to throw away extras. This morning he found a pacifier keeper (connects the pacifier to the baby’s clothes) and started to look around for a paci. I distracted him with a ball and he was satisfied. The end of another era in the life of Trey.
